Quick Q&A

Inspired by an unexpected dose of Dash earlier this evening (more on that a bit later), here's a mini-Q&A...

1)  The sports scene here is almost as depressing as the weather.  The Mariners are underachieving, the Sonics are about to leave for Oklahoma City of all places, and the only compelling thing about the Seahawks is whether Mike Holmgren is going to have some semblance of a chin this season.  Is there any hope on the horizon for us San Diego Sports Guy?

S.M.W                          W.I., Washington

I'll admit that things certainly look bleak.  The Sonics situation is an absolute travesty.  The team has such a storied history with phenomenal talents like Downtown Freddie Brown, Gus Williams, Slick Watts, Dale Ellis, Tom Chambers, Shawn Kemp, Gary Payton, and now Kevin Durant.  It really is a a shame because KD is the real deal and the Sonics are only a couple of players away from joining Portland as the next great young and upcoming team in the Western Conference.   Believe it or not though, things aren't a bed of roses down here in San Diego either.  Despite being the eighth largest city in the country, we don't have an NBA team, the Chargers may bolt within the next couple of years because of a stadium issue, and although there have been some recent signs of life the Padres are almost unwatchable.  On the bright side it's sunny 330 days a year so we have that going for us... which is nice.

2)
What's with all the praise for Rajon Rondo?  It seems like you mention his name on a daily basis.  Are you his publicist?

Nope...I just think the guy is supremely talented .  Well, perhaps I have a bit of a man crush on him.  Over the years I've had similar crushes on George Gervin, Magic Johnson, the aforementioned Mr. Kemp, and Boris Diaw.  Besides Rondo, I also have nothing but love for Josh Smith and Monta Ellis right now so you'll probably see their names once, twice, or eight-hundred times in the coming months as well.

The news that Rondo may not be more than 50% for tomorrow's game should be very troubling for the Celtics.   Eddie House isn't a natural point guard and Sam Cassell is just not ready for prime time anymore.  If Rondo isn't able to play 3/4 of the game at near capacity then the Lakers are a lock to tie up the series.   The only way that doesn't happen is if House and/or Cassell shoot lights out from long range.  By lights out I mean 60% from the floor and at least four 3-pointers.  Short of that, the Lakers will prevail.

3)  The only person you've mentioned more than Rajon Rondo is a C-list actress.  Why the infatuation?

BATWOTSDSG               San Diego, California

Um, do you know she's 42?  I hadn't seen her in years, but out of nowhere she popped up tonight on a dopey show called "Celebrity Circus."  After watching her performance, all I can say is Ohhhhh My.  Ms. Dash definitely did not disappoint.  Without her I wouldn't even consider watching, but it's now Must See TV at the San Diego Sports Guy's house.   As far as being a C-list actress is concerned, she is certainly now on her way to a solid B.  After a couple more weeks on that show, you'll see her name attached to at least two mainstream movies by the end of the year.  Guaranteed.  The other "celebrities" on the show are a bunch of E-Listers so I'd recommend recording it and fast forwarding to the delectable Dash.
