Simply Incredible, First Day of Free Agency & DVD Pick of the Week

The only reason to see "The Incredible Hulk"...
A star studded crop of free agents headlined by Gilbert Arenas, Elton Brand, and Baron Davis hit the market at 12:01 a.m. yesterday. As of this morning it appears that two of these three might be playing together on the Clippers next season. If that happens and both Baron & EB can stay healthy, then the Clips are going to be a #5 seed in the West. Golden State apparently is making a strong play to bring Agent Zero back to NoCal. I've loved Gilbert's game for years, but I'd feel a little uneasy about writing that check for $100 million (or the reported $120 million he would receive for re-signing with the Wizards for that matter). That's a lot of money for a guy coming off two knee surgeries. According to several sources, Beno Udrih signed for about $6 million a season up in Sacramento. There is no denying that Udrih played well for the Kings before going down with an injury at the end of last year. However, this seems like another questionable decision coming on the heels of reaching for Rider big man Jason Thompson in the draft. Five years and $30 million for a guy who has played 25 decent games in the league? Well, I guess that is about 23 more decent games than Jerome James played before Isiah inked him to a similar deal in New York. Let's see what happens on day two...
The DVD Pick of the Week goes to "Punch-Drunk Love" with Adam Sandler. In the humble opinion of the San Diego Sports Guy, this very quirky romantic comedy is certainly Sandler's best movie to date. If you're someone who likes the cookie cutter Sandler comedies like "Billy Madison", "The Waterboy", "Big Daddy", and "Happy Gilmore" then you might not appreciate his remarkable performance. However, if you enjoy small budget movies that are truly unique then this one is definitely worth a rental...

Baron Davis leading the Clippers to a 5th seed is just a ridiculous statement. If the Clippers are lucky they might get an 8 seed. You're an idiot, but I like the pictures and the links.

Pete,
Sticks and stones may break my bones...
As far as the prediction is concerned, perhaps a fifth seed is a bit optimistic in the rugged Western Conference. Only time will tell, I guess. However, if the Clips do have a stellar year and win 55 games I'll be hearing from you again, right?
