Long Summer in GB, Rx for the Blues, & Baker's Dozen

Packers QB Brett Favre was the only player in the NFL to snatch a first-place MVP vote away from Tom Brady in 2007.

This story is not going away anytime soon.  In my opinion, Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy are making all the right moves.  A couple of the loyal and faithful have said that the Favre story is overblown and situations like this happen all the time in football.  Joe Montana and Jerry Rice were cited as examples.  There are certainly similarities, but neither of those players retired like Favre.  Also, neither requested to be released so that he could play for a contender in the same division.  I'm sure there are going to be a lot of people in Titletown USA  clamoring for Favre to take over as the starting QB.  However, if Favre can't stomach being a mentor/great insurance policy in case Rodgers gets injured or is completely ineffective then consideration should be given to shipping #4 to Tampa Bay or Baltimore.  Under no circumstances should Favre be released so that he can sign with the Minnesota Vikings...
