Banned, My Guys & DVD Blues

One Last Glimpse

Did you catch Marko Jaric sitting in the front row at the ESPYS Sunday night?  The future Mr. Lima was there for one reason and one reason only:  his hot wife to be.   Sorry Adriana, but your slug of a basketball player fiance is really bringing you down.  No more pics until you give Marko the boot...

My Guys

While Marko is one of my least favorite NBA basketball players there are quite a few of My Guys who are making big news this off-season.  My Guys aren't necessarily the best players in the league, but they all can ball.  In fantasy hoops I'll draft, pick up, or try to acquire everyone on this list...

Josh Smith - J Smoov is the hottest free agent still out there but he's restricted.  Because of the Hawks threat to match any offer, Smith may have to settle for a one year tender and then he'll be able to command the big bucks as an unrestricted free agent next season.

Monta Ellis - Probably the next best available free agent but he's restricted as well.  Golden State has also threatened to match all offers and it looks like Ellis will definitely be returning to the Warriors.  With Baron out of the picture, Ellis should be even better next year.

Kelenna Azubuike - With a glut of shooting guards/small forwards on the roster, Golden State likely won't match the Clippers' offer sheet to this up and coming star.  Cutino Mobley and Eric Gordon may get more minutes initially but Azubuike should be the man by the end of the year.

Matt Barnes - Another ex-Warrior.  Barnes should fit in perfectly on the Suns.  When Grant Hill goes down, Barnes will pay big dividends.

Mickael Pietrus - Are you sensing a trend?  Up and down during his career with Golden State, Pietrus should flourish with Dwight Howard in Orlando

Gilbert Arenas - I loved Gilbert's game when he came into the league as a 2nd round pick with Golden State.  Coming off the severe knee injury, I wouldn't have paid Arenas that much jack but there's no doubt he's a bona fide star in Washington.  Currently on double secret probation for derogatory comments about Milwaukee last week.

Marcus Camby -  I've been a Camby fan since his days at UMass.  Appears to have finally shed label as the most brittle player in the league.  You thought I was going to say something about that trade to the Clippers, didn't you?  Nope...I'm going cold turkey for the whole week.  I'm a man of my word.

Boris Diaw - The trade rumors abound even though Boris is one of the most versatile players in the league.   Perhaps a change of scenery is needed as Diaw has definitely regressed since signing his big deal a couple years back.  Memphis has plenty of cap space.  What about dealing him to the Grizzlies for Kyle Lowery and Hakim Warrick?  That trade certainly sounds like a win-win to me.

Richard Jefferson - The athletic Jefferson should make the Bucks better but more moves are needed.  Milwaukee has four point guards on the roster right now and one or two of them need to be dealt for a quality power forward.  The Mo Must Go chants are getting louder and louder every day.  John Hammond:  are you listening?

Am I Missing Something?

Apparently I was the only one who didn't see "The Dark Knight" this past weekend.   Instead, I watched three highly publicized comedies on DVD that came out earlier this year:  "I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry", "Good Luck Chuck", and "27 Dresses" (This Kathryn Heigl movie was viewed solely as part of my vow to love, honor, obey, and see at least three chick flicks per year with the BATWOTSDSG).  I wish I could recommend one of them, but I simply can't do it.  I think there are probably twenty solid minutes of comedy if you combined all three movies.  To be honest, I didn't even make it past the hour mark of "Good Luck Chuck" before bailing.  Dane Cook was tolerable in "Dan In Real Life" and "Mr. Brooks", but beyond awful in this one.  Jessica Alba and a lot of other eye candy couldn't even compel me to sit through the last third of the movie.  Nearly four and a half hours of my life was wasted watching these three abominations.  Do you know how many pictures of scantily clad women I could have found and posted in that period of time?  Since all three of these movies made money (including "Good Luck Chuck" if you count the foreign box office), a lot of people apparently liked them.  Anybody out there want to admit that you enjoyed one of these three?  Come on, I dare you...

Maybe these three weren't the best movies in the world but they weren't horrible. I'm sure you can do better, right?

Anonymous is so mysterious.  I hope to hear from you again...whoever you may be.  Well, as I matter of fact I think I can.  Perhaps my screenplay "Be Happy" isn't the best piece of writing in movie history but I'd definitely put it up against "27 Dresses" or "Good Luck Chuck."   Maybe one of these days I'll post a few scenes of dialogue and you can be the judge...

In order to inspire more Cambyman posts, are we going to see an All-Time My Guys list? It's always good to see a Paul Pressey or Paul Mokeski reference.

Definitely!  That's a great idea Bruce.  Big Mo and Pressey are certainly on it along with John Gianelli and Randy Breuer.   Perhaps I'll be able to post this before the end of the week...

I saw "27 Dresses" while I was on an airplane. I started watching it because I thought it was a movie about Kobe's supporting cast, featuring Lamar Odom and Pau Gasol. While I was initially disappointed that it wasn't a basketball flick, I have to admit that the movie was surprisingly watchable. I suggest that Mitch Kupchak consider adding some Katherine Heigl-like toughness to the Lakers.

Nice!  A little Lakers smack.  I like it.   It's good to hear from you Rosey...I always suspected that your estrogen level was on the high side.  Don't be a stranger...

I've been desperately trying to find a current picture of her, but I've come up empty.   Do I need to start checking French porn websites?  Any suggestions, Ken?
