Jets Girl, Tomlinson Hints at Retirement, and Johnny Courage

Latest NY Jets Employee

The New York Jets continue to make sweeping changes within the organization.  First, it was the Favre acquisition and now it's Jenn Sterger who will be a part of the Jets game day telecast.   As you can see from exhibits A & B above, Ms. Sterger's exceptional body of work probably had some impact on the Jets hiring decision.  Although I certainly could be wrong...

Shutting It Down?

Word on the local airwaves yesterday was that LT could be pulling a Barry Sanders and retiring within the next two years.  Evidently Tomlinson wants to call it quits while his health is still in tact.  I hope it's his health that LT is concerned about rather than the harsh treatment he received from fans after the loss to New England in the AFC Championship last season.

A lot of fans and commentators (including Deion Sanders) felt as though Tomlinson should have played more than one series of the game.  I didn't share this belief, but I did think LT's decision to sit on the bench for virtually the entire game with his helmet on instead of cheering for his teammates was very odd.  Tomlinson bristled at the criticism afterwards and I doubt that the chip on his shoulder has completely disappeared.

If LT does indeed call it a career in two years, it's a good thing for all San Diego Chargers fans that the team is going to win the Super Bowl in February.  This current Chargers team is absolutely loaded at every position and I'll be surprised if they don't become Super Bowl champs six months from now...

Courageous and Honest

edwards-1.jpg John Edwards image by dudeen_2006

This just in:  Most politicians aren't very nice people.  Last week it was John Edwards who confirmed what most everybody already suspected was true.  Now it's John McCain's turn in the spotlight.   I've had my fun with Grandpa John over the last couple of months so I really don't want to pile on....at least too much.   However, it certainly appears as though JMac divorced his first wife because of her very unfortunate accident and subsequent surgeries.  No doubt Republican comrade, Newt Gingrich, took a page from McCain's play book when he divorced his wife while she was in a hospital bed dying of cancer.

I always get a kick out of the women who stand by their men.  This applies to Hillary Clinton sticking with Bill after he mistook Monica Lewinsky for a cigar storage unit all the way to more recent examples including Dina McGreevey, Silda Spitzer, and Elizabeth Edwards.   A few days ago, Elizabeth said that she was "proud of the courage John has shown by his honesty in the face of shame."  Hmmm...when I think of courage, Edwards coping to his infidelity when confronted with unmistakable evidence doesn't immediately come to mind.  Edwards is still claiming that one of his campaign advisors is the baby daddy so I'm sure this story will continue to play out in the press until paternity tests are taken.  I'm just looking forward to Johnny Boy's next courageous act when he finally admits that the baby is his after the paternity test comes back positive...

Chargers winning the Super Bowl. Yeah right. They have lost to New England two years in a row. What makes you think this season is going to be any different? The Patriots didn't lose anybody except Samuel and he is overated anyway. Who is backing up Tomlinson this year? The Chargers will probably go 10-6 and then lose to New England again.

Mark my words, Tom, the San Diego Chargers will win the Super Bowl this season.  I hate to be a homer, but after very close calls the past two years the Chargers are going to win it all.  Guaranteed.  I'm taking bets if you want to make a little wager.  Oh, and by the way, one of the guys who is backing up Tomlinson will be on my mid-to-late round sleepers list so keep reading.
