Marlina Moreno, NFL Picks & Random Musings

Two, Four, Six, Eight...who are we going to obliterate? BRONCOS!!!!!!!

With Merriman out and LT, Williams, Cromartie, and Gates all injured it could be a long day on Sunday for the Chargers. Opinions are like assholes, everybody has one. However, I went 10-6 against the spread last week and am reasonably confident that I'll do even better this week (for all the gamblers out there). On to the picks...
Without the Spread:
Kansas City
Tennessee
Indianapolis
New Orleans
Green Bay
Carolina
N.Y. Giants
Jacksonville
Tampa Bay
Seattle
Arizona
New England
Houston
San Diego
Pittsburgh
Dallas
With Point Spreads:
Kansas City -4 Not crazy about the Chiefs, but Raiders look awful
Tennessee +1 1/2 Cincy should win, but there is something about the Titans
Minnesota +2 This one could go either way
New Orleans + 1 1/2 Skins should win this home game, but I'm backing Brees
Green Bay -3 Big question: Will Rodgers and the Pack take the Lions for granted?
Chicago +3 Carolina looked good last week, but I'll back Orton one more time
N.Y. Giants - 8 Need to see the Rams score some points
Buffalo +6 Jacksonville should eke out victory, but it won't be easy
Atlanta +9 Tampa Bay doesn't blow too many teams away
SF +9 I was a WR in high school and Holmgren called to see if I'm still in shape
Miami +7 Miami stinks, but should keep it close
N.E. +3 Can't remember the last time the Pats were a dog
Baltimore + 5 Not sold on Baltimore yet, but the Texans need to show me something
Denver +2 1/2 Chargers should win, but those injuries are a concern
Pittsburgh -5 1/2 Hopefully Pittsburgh won't be to cocky
Philly +7 1/2 Underdogs galore this week (12 out of 16)

My Top 25 TV Characters List has now become a Top 30 with the addition of the following characters: 26) Murray Hewitt 27) Miranda Bailey 28) Fred "Rerun" Stubbs 29) Louis De Palma and 30) Shirley Wilson
"The Shield" makes "N.Y.P.D. Blue" look like an after school special. There are only ten more episodes and then it's over forever so there is still time to jump on the bandwagon of this groundbreaking show. The boundaries of basic cable have never been pushed so far before...
Within the past twenty-four hours I've heard suggestions about two quarterbacks Bill Belichick should consider signing this season to replace Tom Brady. A columnist who I usually enjoy, Jason Whitlock, recommended that the Patriots consider dusting off Jeff George and bringing him in to throw to Moss and Co. Although George possesses a cannon for an arm, he hasn't thrown an NFL pass since Bristol Palin was in 4th grade. Sorry Jason, but I just don't see that one happening.
The other suggestion came from a friend of mine who happens to be a Belichick-like coach of the best youth football team in the history of mankind. When I first heard the name, I scoffed. However, upon further reflection, I determined that this recently retired signal caller could be just what the Patriots need to get over the hump this season. Are you sitting down? Drum roll please........Drew Bledsoe. Yes, I'm sure your first reaction might be to laugh uncontrollably, but just think about it. He knows Belichick's offense and has plenty of big game experience. If Cassel struggles, don't be surprised if Drew gets a call...

I'm glad to see that Governor Palin has been granted permission to answer questions from Charlie Gibson and I look forward to hearing what she has to say...

I'm still on the fence about Obama, but if Biden steps aside for Scarlett then Barry will get my vote...
