As The Sports World Turns, Keep Hope Alive, WWSKD? & Tito

As The Sports World Turns zeroes in on a few Bonehead of the Week candidates...

This is unbelievable...and absolutely hilarious.  I'm just dying to hear the referee's side of the story.

Talk about a falling star.  Brett Favre has gone from Green Bay God to public enemy number one.  If the story about #4 calling the Detroit Lions is true then Favre will likely have a difficult time setting foot in the state of Wisconsin again...

Chuck Long and the San Diego State Aztecs football team are an absolute disgrace.  Losing 70-7 to New Mexico?   Had it been USC that would be one thing, but New Mexico?  Come on, that is beyond embarrassing.  SDSU hasn’t been relevant since the Marshall Falk era and Long is now 8-23 in his three-year tenure.  So Long, Chuck...better start cleaning out your office

In the latest installment of What Would Shawn Kemp Do?, Shawn fields a question about the financial crisis:

Dear Shawn,

All these wild swings in the stock market and talk about a depression are really causing me a lot of anxiety.  What are your thoughts?

Sincerely,

Anxious In Sacramento

Dear AIS,

I hear what you're saying.  It's a very stressful time for millions of people right now.   All I know is that spreading the wealth around definitely isn't the answer.  I should know, because I'm currently spreading a lot of my wealth around to a number of women from Seattle to Sarasota.   Hope and big government also aren't long term solutions.  I'm certainly not a math whiz, but I know we can't keep spending billions and billions of dollars without finding a way to pay it back.  In my spare time, I've been developing a Deficit Reduction Through Income Redistribution Program (DR. TIRP for short) that I plan to unveil prior to the end of the year.  It isn't a panacea, but I truly believe that this great country of ours will be better off if it is ever implemented.  Stay tuned for a major announcement in early December and thanks for your question.

Sincerely,

Shawn

Here are a couple other cartoons for all of the fair and balanced Righties near and dear to my heart...

Kurt Bevacqua

A new feature called Fascinating Facts debuts today and examines Terry "Tito" Francona chewing more than 72 pieces of bubble gum in a three-hour playoff game.  It should also be noted that Francona is the older (and less handsome) brother of Shawn Kemp's Kids reader DRC from Sabre Springs.  Perhaps Tito should go with a goatee next season like his younger bro...

suppose you think Troy Aikman is fair and balanced when calling the Cowboy games, too.

I don't think there is any doubt that Aikman is a bit biased and I'd also have to say that he is the most overrated football analyst on television.  The guy wears a Captain Obvious cape every time he broadcasts a game.  Here is an example of the type of analysis Aikman provides:  "You're right Joe, Barber took the screen pass four yards behind the line of scrimmage and it looked like there was going to be a lot of room to run, but then the defender tackled him.  It was a good play call, but it just didn't work out."   Troy makes John Madden sound insightful.  One last thing: if you listen closely, Aikman says the word 'but' every time he speaks.  It's uncanny...

Unfortunately you ran with the Troy Aikman angle instead of the SDSG "fair and balanced" angle.

Oh, what will the government do with all that extra money they get from the poor slobs that make over $250K!

Sorry about that, Palin Doll.  I zigged when I should have zagged.  As an indigent blogger I can't relate to making more than $250,000 a year.  However, if Obama is elected I will certainly feel your pain.   Shawn was kind enough to send me a draft of his DRTIRP and you may actually like it.  Perhaps it may even be unveiled before the November 4th election.

    Dear SDSG,

Sorry for taking so long to respond to your Terry "Tito" Francona comment. Unlike you apparently, some of us don't have an unlimited number of hours to sit in front of the computer on non-revenue producing projects.

While you are correct that I am the better looking of the two (thanks for the props), I don't think the goatee look would work for my older bro, with all the gum chewing and spitting. Who knows what might get caught in there.

I hear you DRC.  No Worries...better late than never.  As an fyi, this blog certainly qualifies as a revenue producing project.  I only wish the revenue could be a little bit more.  Right now, I make enough money each month to take my wife out to dinner at Yanni's Bistro, but there isn't enough left over to afford dessert.
