Weekend Wrap: NFL Picks, Babe and Bonehead of the Week & Two Exclusive Scoops for Readers of Sandiegosportsguy.com

Hope everyone enjoyed Thanksgiving!  All three football games turned out to be real turkeys...and thankfully I only watched a grand total of a half a quarter all day.  I went 3-0 without the spread to bring my overall record for the year to a lofty 118-60-1.  With the point spread I was 2-1 and my overall record stands at a solid 93-80-6.   On to the rest of the Week 13 games...

Without the Spread

San Diego
NY Jets
Buffalo
Tampa Bay
Green Bay
NY Giants
Miami
Baltimore
Indianapolis
New England
Oakland
Minnesota
Jacksonville

With the Spread

San Diego              -5           SD can't afford to lose another home game
Denver                   +8
Buffalo                   -6 1/2
Tampa Bay           -4
Green Bay             -3
NY Giants             -3 1/2
Miami                    -9
Baltimore              -7
Indianapolis         -5
Pittsburgh             +1
Oakland                -3
Minnesota            -3
Jacksonville       +3 1/2      Don't hear a lot of barking; only 3 of 13 dogs

Marlina Moreno

Although Denver is only ahead of San Diego by two games in the standings, the Chargers really need to win tomorrow afternoon at home against Atlanta.   Babe of the week, Marlina Moreno, and the rest of the squad need to cheer the Bolts to a victory...

I'm going to give the Bonehead of the Week award to myself for only posting once during the past six days.  I was busy trying to help fantasy basketball league participants all over the world (see Thanksgiving Fantasy Focus feature article on RealGM.com) and neglected the blog.   To make up for it, here are two scoops you won't find anywhere in the mainstream media and blogosphere (as far as I know)...

In the YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST DEPARTMENT a local businessman with very deep pockets will likely be purchasing the San Diego Padres from John Moores in the very near future.  No, it's not me...although John and I did discuss the possibility over a cocktail earlier this month and I ultimately decided against it.

Due to the impending divorce between John and his longtime wife Becky, at least half of the team will need to be sold because California is a community property state.  In order to protect the identity of my highly placed source, I'm not at liberty to disclose the name of the potential buyer.   However, here are a couple of hints:  1) His initials are the 9th and 10th letters of the alphabet and 2) The name of the stadium where the Chargers currently play their games

This is exceptional news for the dwindling number of Padres fans in this town as the new owner (who may even purchase 100% of the team when all of the marital discord/divorce dust settles) has plenty of money to spend on quality players so the team is at least watchable next season.

The other scoop relates to the local newspaper in town, The San Diego Union-Tribune.  Due to declining advertising revenue, this venerable newspaper has been on the block for at least a year now.  Well, it looks like All The News That's Fit To Print (from a liberal point of view) will be taking over in the very near future.  Yes, the New York Times will likely be purchasing the paper from the Copley family within the next several months.

In addition to San Diego Sports Guy, SD Sportsguy, SDSG, and Drew, please feel free to call me Scoop from now on.  Enjoy the rest of the holiday weekend...
