This man has absolutely nothing to smile about right now.

An NBA basketball team leading by four points with 21 seconds left in the game should get the W.   Well, maybe not a Mike Dunleavy coached team. 

Hindsight is always 20/20, but how could Dunleavy let 19-year old rookie Eric Gordon cover the Bulls' best three-point threat,  Ben Gordon, at the end of the game?  Wouldn't a more experienced guard have been a better option?  EG fouled BG in the act of shooting a three-pointer, the shot went in and the four-point play was converted to tie the game.   A timeout was then taken to set up the last eighteen seconds and logic dictated that 1) Baron Davis should go one-on-one against rookie guard Derrick Rose or 2) Zach Randolph, who was unstoppable in the second half against both Andres Nocioni and Drew Gooden, should get the ball in the post.  What does Dunleavy draw up?  An isolation play for Al Thornton in the right corner that resulted in a fade away twenty-footer.  Needless to say, Thornton's shot didn't go in.  What the F&%k???!!??   

In a related story, the SDSG is a leading candidate for Bonehead of the Week for predicting the Clippers would go 40-19 the rest of the season. Evidently, I forgot that Mike Dunleavy was the head coach.  What was I thinking?






My favorite NBA teams are the Bucks and Clippers.  My favorite NFL teams are the Chargers and Packers.  I guess it's time for me to face the fact that I'm a masochist.  There is no other way to explain it.  I must subconsciously enjoy pain, frustration and disappointment...

San Diego Padres GM Keven Towers was recently quoted as saying that the team is thinking about signing 42-year old Omar Vizquel and 38-year old Mark Grudzielanek.   Perhaps someone should tell Kevin that this isn't 1999.  

Hey Kev, is Julio Franco next?  I think he's 48 years old right now...wouldn't it be great to have him celebrate his 50th birthday as a member of  the 25-man roster?  The team still doesn't have much speed or power, maybe Rickey Henderson and Darryl Strawberry are interested in playing major league baseball again.  

The Padres are beyond ridiculous.  If the average attendance at Padres games next season is more than 15,000 I'll be shocked...
