A Quick Q&A, Commentary About The Shawn Marion Trade To The Raptors and Colin Cowherd Is Starting A Blog

It has been a while since the SDSG answered questions from the Loyal & Faithful readers so let's bang out a quick Q&A...

San Diego Sports Guy,

Have you had a chance to check out all of the pictures in the latest Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue?  I really think the bar has been set so high that it will never be topped.  What do you think?

Charlie,

I'll tell you what, Leonardo DeCaprio and Andy Roddick are very lucky guys.  I'd also like to point out the fact that a L&F reader of this blog currently living in the Valley of the Sun has a daughter (
pictured above) who made her modeling debut in the issue.   Although Cintia doesn't look much older than 16, she's 22 years old and is the spitting image of her proud papa.

San Diego Sports Guy,

I've never heard of "In Bruges" and don't understand why you talk about obscure movies when there are classics like "Karate Kid" and "Teen Wolf" that can be discussed.  What's the deal?

It's simple B.S., I write about what I like and what I think other people will enjoy.  I'm sorry that your taste in movies isn't more diverse.  I really don't have anything against Michael J. Fox or Ralph Macchio, but I've seen those 80's films once or twice and that is more than enough.  Keep reading though...I'm sure I'll eventually reference a movie or two that you like as well.

San Diego Sports Guy,

Ex-Chicago Bulls are to the GM position as Bush was to the presidency.  Case #1, Michael Jordan in Charlotte .  #2 is Steve Kerr in Phoenix, going from the frying pan into the fire giving Amare away and #3 is Senor Paxson in Chicago .  Can Memphis be far away from hiring Bill Wennington?

Wilson C.           New York

Wilson,

Great question and very timely with today's news that Paxson will be resigning from the Bulls at some point in the near future.  I don't have time to list everything he has done (or not done as the case may be) as the GM in Chicago, but he has been an absolute abomination.  Sure, the team has some talented players and landing Derek Rose with the #1 pick was a miraculous stroke of luck.  However, Paxson hasn't been able to hire the right coaches or assemble a team that has a prayer of being competitive in the playoffs.

I'm hardly the biggest Amare Stoudemire fan in the world, but if he is actually available then Paxson should have acquired him already.  Stoudemire would be an ideal post player on the Bulls and the only one who could proficiently execute the Pick & Pop with Rose.  I'm sure the Suns would gladly take Kirk Hinrich, an improving Tyrus Thomas, the expiring contract of Drew Gooden and a draft choice for Amare and Jared Dudley.  C'mon Pax, make it happen.

Oh, and I like the Bill Wennington reference.  Although I might have gone with Will Perdue.

Shawn Marion is moving on once again. About a year ago "The Matrix" was shipped to Miami for Shaq and he is now heading to Toronto along with Marcus Banks for Jermaine O'Neal and SDSG favorite Jamario Moon.  This deal has been in the works for several weeks and it should really help both teams.

The Heat acquire a much needed big man in the brittle O'Neal as well as the multi-dimensional Moon.  While O'Neal is certainly well past his prime, when healthy he'll provide a potent defensive presence while helping DWade on the offensive end of the floor.

Conversely, the Raptors get an athletic small forward for thirty games who should fit in very well with Chris Bosh and Andrea Bargnani on the front line.  Marion's $17 million contract will be expiring at the end of the season and the Raptors can either sign him to a more reasonable deal or look elsewhere in the free agent market.

Props to both Bryan Colangelo and Pat Riley for pulling off this trade.  The Heat should end the season with a 5th or 6th seed in the East and the Raptors may now have a legitimate shot at an 8th seed.

Well, well, well, look who is starting a blog later this month.  It's none other than our old friend, Colin Cowherd.  I thought blogs were "stale" Colin.  Isn't  that what you said last month?  I can't wait to read what CC has to say on his blog.  Who knows, there may even be clever little features like Would You Prefer...?, Who Gives A Rat's Ass?, The Bloviating Buffoon Award as well as the Babe & Bonehead of the Week.  I'm counting the days until the Cowherd Blog enters the blogosphere...
