Tyson Chandler, The Debut of Colin Cowherd's Blog: The Herds Word and Would You Prefer...?

Did A-Rod have a press conference today?  I didn't hear anything about it...

Although a NY Yankee 3rd baseman is dominating the headlines, the Tyson Chandler trade is a much bigger story.  Why?  Because one of the eight best teams in basketball just took a dump on their fans and eliminated any possibility of challenging for the title this season.  Sure, Chandler has been injured quite a bit this year but he was a defensive presence when healthy and proficiently executed the pick & roll on the offensive end of the court with Chris Paul.  In exchange for Chandler, the Hornets received the expiring contracts of Chris Wilcox and Joe Smith along with the draft rights to Devon Hardin.

In effect, the owner of the Hornets is saying that he can't afford the team any longer and will likely look to move to another city as soon as possible.  This is a very troubling development in a once fiscally sound league.  Sacramento, Memphis, Charlotte and Phoenix are a few of the other teams currently having financial difficulties and looking to shed salary.

Oklahoma City general manger Sam Presti was able to acquire a valuable big man for 30 cents on the dollar and the Thunder are on the verge of becoming one of the best young teams in the league with a nucleus of Kevin Durant, Jeff Green, Russell Westbrook, Nenad Krstic and Chandler.  The team also has five 1st round picks over the next two years and they are a virtual lock to be a perennial playoff contender for the next decade...

Much maligned radio personality Colin Cowherd launched a blog yesterday and my first impression of the site, The Herds Word, was favorable.  There is certainly room for improvement, but overall the blog shows a lot of promise.  There is one thing Cowherd may want to tweak as soon as possible though.  He has a link to Suze Orman's web site under the heading of Babes.  Um, Colin, that isn't the first word that comes to mind when I think of Ms. Orman.  Perhaps SDSG favorites Stacey Dash, Salma Hayek, Scarlett Johansson, Anna Rawson or come to think of it anybody else would be better options...

What follows is today's edition of the popular feature Would You Prefer...?

1)  Would You Prefer...having Jayson Williams show you his gun collection at a party in his house or riding in the back seat of Jason Richardson's car along with his 3-year old son?

2)  Would You Prefer...taking whatever Joaquin Phoenix was on during his recent David Letterman appearance or spending some quality time in a bathroom stall with former Atlanta Falcons running back Jamal Anderson?

3)  Would You Prefer...being in bloated actor Chris Tucker's skin for a month or spending a week stumbling around in the shoes of a dazed and confused Bud Selig?

Here are the correct answers according to Shawn...

1)  Man, what a rough stretch for Williams.  That divorce is going to be a nasty one.  It's real close, but I'd have to say going on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride through the streets of Phoenix with JRich.

2)  Shee-it.  Been there done that with Blow.  I'm not sure what Anderson was doing in the stall with that other guy.  I'm drug-free now, but between the two I'd go with whatever Joaquin took that night.

3)  Damn, I didn't even recognize Tucker.  Dude must have put on 100 lbs.   Selig clearly doesn't know which end is up.  I'll go with Tuck and the extra weight.
