A Few Words About The Sensational Kevin Durant

Remember when Kevin Durant's inability to bench press 185 lbs. at a pre-draft camp was a huge story back in June 2007? That weekend I had a long debate with someone who was convinced that a lack of strength would prevent Durant from being a solid NBA player. After watching Durant play a half dozen college games I argued that KD was the real deal and would be a dominant pro. I also went on to say that bench press strength was completely overrated and Durant clearly deserved to be the number one pick in the draft ahead of Greg Oden.
Well, fast forward to March 2009 and Durant is already one of the ten best players in the league at the tender young age of twenty. In fantasy basketball drafts next year he likely will be chosen fifth or sixth...either right before or right after Kobe. Yes, he's that good.
I was devastated when KD was taken with the pick right before me in the fifth round of this year's fantasy draft. I almost took him in round four but opted for Bucks big man Andrew Bogut instead after his inspired play in the second half of the prior season. Well, needless to say, the guy that snagged Durant is winning the league right now and my team is currently in 5th place (although...after the recent acquisitions of DWade, the Matrix and Ron Artest, team Sarah Palin is primed for a late season sprint to the finish line).
Portland GM Kevin Pritchard will never publicly admit it, but I'm sure he secretly wishes KD was a Trail Blazer right now...

One a year, I am wrong about something. Last year, it was KD and his lack of upper body strength.

I'm not so sure about that, Rosey. You have done pretty well on your football picks lately, but otherwise I'd say you're batting about .275...
