Colin Cowherd Is The Paris Hilton Of Sports Talk Radio

Oh Colin, there you go again. Everybody's favorite radio personality is up to his old tricks:
“Blogs used to feel so edgy. I’ve never seen anything lose their relevance faster than blogs. You can make fun of newspapers, but they lost their relevance over like 150 years. Blogs lost their relevance in an hour and a half..."
"...Do you know 99% of all bloggers are white, 18-34, from the northeast, liberal … they’re all the same guy! They’re all the same voice! Middle class or above, prep school, overwhelmingly white. You’re the same guy! If i put you in a room i couldn’t tell you apart. They just link back and forth to each other. To me it’s funny..."
I didn't hear Cowherd's comments live, but read a summary of his rant from this site. A couple of months ago I called CC the Dane Cook of sports talk radio. Now, I think it is pretty clear that he is also the Paris Hilton of sports talk radio. What do I mean? Well, like Paris, the guy will say and do just about anything to get attention.
Why does Cowherd continue to rant and rave about blogs? Is he running out of material? Does he think the blogosphere will make him a topic of conversation and drive people to his radio show (and his blog)? The answer to both of these questions is a resounding YES. I listen to his show for twenty minutes a day and whenever I tune in Cowherd is invariably talking about something that he has already covered ad nauseam dozens of times before.
I just wrote another post about him and I'm sure hundreds of other bloggers did so as well. Because of this, I suppose he achieved his goal of bringing attention to himself, getting noticed and generating buzz. At what cost though? To me, Cowherd appears to be approaching the point of desperation: Look at me...Look at me...Please...I'm begging you...!
If a sex tape somehow shows up on the internet with his boney white ass in a hotel room then I think the transformation is complete...
p.s. In addition to SDSG, I guess you can start calling me Mr. One Percent now because I certainly don't fall into Colin's 99% demographic
