Kevin Towers Is Embarrassed About The Padres Performance But Still Has Time For Golf

Rather than spending his time working the phones in order to get a little speed in the Padres lineup, Kevin Teflon Towers was busy yesterday trying to hit a few golf balls into Petco Park off a 34-story building.
A couple days before providing moral support to PGA professional Briny Baird about 340 feet above the ground, Towers talked about the team's current predicament in a Union-Tribune column by Nick Canepa:
"I'm embarrassed for myself,” he said. “This is my ballclub. I'm as much to blame as anybody else. I don't want to see everything lost over what we've built over a long time. I've been a part of this organization for 25 years. Just three weeks ago I'm walking by our place at the beach and people are fired up about the Padres. Now they say we're horrible. It hurts."
While I'm glad to see that Towers has accepted responsibility for the dismal performance of the team, it doesn't let him off the hook by any stretch of the imagination. Although the Padres returned home and swept Cincinnati over the weekend, KT needs to continue making changes to a woefully inadequate roster or last year's 63-99 record will be repeated.
Oh by the way, Baird hit the target from 268 yards away so everybody in America will now receive a chicken lettuce wrap appetizer from P.F. Chang's China Bistro. Thanks Briny...
