Blog Reader Ronnie B Sounds Off On Hochuli, Laettner & Darko

Look at this picture of Darko...doesn't he just ooze potential?  As you know, June is Blog Reader Appreciation Month here at Shawn Kemp's Kids and it's time for loyal reader Ronnie B to sound off on a variety of different topics:

Name:     Ronnie B. from Long Beach , CA

Profession:   Falconer (for movies, e.g., Continental Divide), and yes, you can train them to go after one’s balls when prompted with the command “Chompers, sick balls.”

If I could change one thing in the sports world it would be___________ because...

Only one?  How do I choose from a laundry list that includes the castration of Chris Collinsworth, the grass-roots overthrow of David Stern, and the automatic Hall Of Fame bid for Ed McCaffrey (he hung onto the ball!)?  It’s just so hard.  Well, with all due respect to the anti-BCS guys no doubt clamoring for a playoff (an idea I agree with), if pressed to pick only one thing I could change, I’d have to go with this:  in any sport, whenever one team or player is ahead by more than two times the point spread, the cheerleaders all go topless.  If the trailing competitor closes the gap, the tube tops come back on.  Now staying till the end of a Clipper game can be just as exciting as staying to the end of a real game.

The sports figure/celebrity/politician/business person I most admire is Ed Hochuli because... dude had the cajones to man up and admit he was wrong when the path of least resistance would have been to make up some other call and basically lie his way out of it – a method used by way too many people in the world.  This guy should be held up as a beacon of the kind of take-responsibility-for-your-actions people we should all strive to be.  Instead, he was vilified by the fans and the media.  What a blown opportunity.  Ed… I, for one, applaud your manliness.  Way to nut up, Bicep Boy!

The top five movies of all-time are...

1)  Airplane

2)  Dazed & Confused

3)  The Big Lebowski

4)  The Fugitive

5)  There Will Be Blood

Last)  tie between Cannonball Run II and Beyond The Poseidon Adventure

If I could trade places with anyone in the world it would be Christian Laettner because... I’ve been feeling suicidal lately, so if I’m gonna go anyway... You’re welcome, world.

I strongly disagree with the SDSG about...  Darko Milicic.  I say Darko sucks.  SDSG sucks Darko.  It’s all about word placement and one blogger’s desire to ensure that the Eastern Bloc has a happy ending.

Darko! Next year it will all come together for him. What am I saying? No it won't...Milicic is one of the biggest teases in NBA history.

Wow, it has been a long time since I've seen "Continental Divide"...Belushi actually played it straight (for the most part) in that one.

I like that topless angle a lot. Something needs to be tweaked though because the losing team would never come back. If fact, there would probably be back room deals to make sure one team got off to a huge lead in the first quarter of nearly every game.

Hochuli?!? You're not going to get much sympathy for that answer from anyone here in San Diego. I suppose he deserves props for the way he handled the call and it's aftermath, but man that was brutal for Bolt fans at the time.

I cannot think of a more boring, overrated movie than "TWBB" I would have had more fun watching a major league baseball game.

Ouch!  Ronnie B: are you going to take that?

What about "The English Patient"? It just doesn't get anymore boring and overrated than that movie.   I haven't seen "TWBB" yet, but if Ronnie B recommends it then I'll have to put on my Netflix.

You know what I'm gonna do while you're watching that 3+ hour snoozefest known as a baseball game? "I DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE!"

It''s definitely a classic...no doubt about it.  Top 5 of all-time though??  I haven't watched it in over a decade and will have to see it again to determine if it holds up.

I have a feeling it's not going to be on one reader's list because he is more of a "Silverado" kind of guy.  Hopefully he'll be sending in his answers in a few days.
