DeJuan Blair Is Very Long & Jay Bilas Is Smitten

Will the Bucks be better off with Johnny Flynn or DeJuan Blair?  I think they have to go with Blair.  He’s gonna be in between a Paul Milsap and a Chuckwagon Barkley.  They need toughness.  Thoughts, SDSG?

We're now exactly one week away from the NBA Draft and I just received the above e-mail from a Milwaukee Bucks fan wondering what the team should do with the 10th overall pick.  Although I'm a bit concerned about Blair's knee issues, The Pitt power forward is just what the beleaguered Bucks need to improve their front court.

Reportedly, Milwaukee general Manager John Hammond wants to select a point guard.  However, I think re-signing current point guard Ramon Sessions would alleviate the need to even consider floor generals like Flynn, Ty Lawson or Brandon Jennings.  If Hammond is so hard up for point guard then I'd suggest finding a way to acquire another late first rounder to tab UCLA's Darren Collison.

Blair should still be there at #10 and the Bucks need to roll the dice on the 6'6" banger. Sure he's a bit undersized, but evidently Blair's wingspan is 7'2".  Because DeJuan possesses both excellent length and a great motor, alleged "draft expert" Jay Bilas gets aroused at the mere sound of Blair's name.  In fact, Bilas is so smitten with Blair that he has this picture on the ceiling above his bed.

The Barkely comparison is interesting, but frankly I see Blair as a combination of Milsap and Elton Brand.  Perhaps one day he can evolve into the Round Mound of Rebound, but that likely won't occur for several more years.  Speaking of Sir Charles, here is a short Q&A that you might enjoy.

Bottom line:  The Bucks need to go big and Blair should be their man.
