Hasheem Thabeet Doesn't Like Memphis Either

Connecticut center Hasheem Thabeet has channeled his inner-Sarah Palin and said "Thanks, but no thanks" to the Memphis Grizzlies.  The 7'3" Thabeet (Jay Bilas is salivating just thinking about the big man's tremendous length) now has joined flashy point guard Ricky Rubio on a rapidly growing list of players who want nothing to do with Memphis.

Truth is, the Grizzlies don't need either player.  Marc Gasol is more than adequate in the post and Mike Conley finally showed signs of having the right stuff to be a quality point guard in the league.  What general Manager Chris Wallace really needs to do is package the pick along with three players (Darko Milicic,  Marko Jaric and Hakim Warrick) to the Phoenix Suns for Amar'e Stoudemire.

Stoudemire is a "me first" player that has essentially worn out his welcome in the Valley of the Sun, but could help the Grizzlies become competitive next season.  You're telling me that a lineup of Gasol, Stoudemire, Conley, Rudy Gay and O.J. Mayo wouldn't win 35-40 games next year?  Wallace likely will be gun shy after the Pau Gasol gift to the Lakers, but he needs to roll the dice or the Grizzlies might become financially insolvent by the time the playoffs roll around in May 2010...

I like Tyreke a lot and he would be a nice addition to the Grizzlies roster as a combo guard/sixth man.  They should be able to move down a few spots to get him though...

Why do I have the sneaking suspicion that Chris Wallace will f%ck it up?
