Quick Recap Of The NBA Draft: Winners, Losers & Jay Bilas

Painting of Tyrannosaurus rex by Joe Tucciarone

In case there was any doubt, it has now been confirmed that the Tyrannosaurus Rex was the least favorite dinosaur of Jay Bilas.  ESPN's draft expert despises anyone or anything with short arms.  On a side note, I'm now $1,960 richer because prior to the draft a buddy of mine agreed to pay me $10 every time Bilas uttered the words length, long or wingspan.

Big Winner

San Antonio  - for the pre-draft acquisition of Richard Jefferson and for the ABSOLUTE STEAL of DeJuan Blair in the second round.  Every team that passed on Blair will rue the day they let this guy slip away.  I don't a give a flying f%ck about knee injuries...Blair should have been a Top 15 pick.

Big Losers

Minnesota - At the end of the telecast Bilas said he really liked Minnesota's draft.  Huh?  ESPN: is this the best you can do as far as an expert is concerned?  Absolutely mind boggling.

I hope GM David Kahn knows what he's doing, because right now the Timberwolves aren't going to win 20 games next season.  While I love Ricky Rubio, the kid reportedly is now threatening to stay in Spain for a couple years unless he's dealt to the Knicks.  Apparently Kahn wants to keep Rubio and play him alongside Flynn "as the new Thomas and Dumars."  I'm not even kidding.  This could end very badly in Minnesota.

Oklahoma City - I don't like either James Harden or B.J. Mullens and both will likely be major busts.  It's really time to take GM Sam Presti's genius tag away.  These were not very good selections.  On the bright side, the team now has three extremely pale centers on the roster (Krstic, Swift & Mullens) that should fit in very well in Oklahoma.

Milwaukee -  Something else that will be ending badly is the relationship between Scott Skiles and Brandon Jennings....and probably before the end of 2009.  There is no way in hell these two guys are going to get along and ever be on the same page.
