Is Allen Iverson The Answer or A Cancer?

“What do you mean I have to practice and come off the bench?”
Allen Iverson
The Answer? These days Allen Iverson is more like The Cancer. The Denver Nuggets started gelling as a team immediately after Iverson’s departure and the arrival of Chauncey Billups while the Pistons imploded thanks in part to AI’s reaction to coming off the bench behind Rip Hamilton.
Now an unrestricted free agent, Iverson is threatening to retire if his next head coach also has the audacity not to make him an every day starter. Although I don’t have an M.D. after my name, I feel reasonably confident in diagnosing AI with an acute case of Favreitis.
Symptoms of this vexing condition include an inability to recognize a significant deterioration in skill level, an ego the size of Chuck Barkley’s waistline and a desire to prolong a successful career by playing for an inferior team. This last symptom appears to be manifesting itself in Iverson’s desire to play for the Memphis Grizzlies next season.
Can you imagine Iverson, Zach Randolph, Rudy Gay and O.J. Mayo being on the court at the same time? I don’t even think two balls would be enough.
