It's Time To Hand Out A Few NFL Awards

Best Baller: Phillip Rivers

Counting off the field exploits, Tom Brady wins this award hands down. After knocking up hottie Bridget Moynahan, Brady did the same to model Giselle Bundchen and now has two young sons (John and Ben) destined to face each other in a future Super Bowl. On the gridiron, Brady returned from a devastating knee injury and has thrown for 4200 yards and 28 TD's. Not too shabby, but not good enough.

While Drew Brees and Peyton Manning also have turned in superb seasons, we're giving the inaugural Best Baller Award to Phillip Rivers of the San Diego Chargers. Rivers has led the Bolts to ten straight victories and has 4155 passing yards and 27 TD's on the season. Oh, and he's only thrown 9 interceptions despite an injury depleted offensive line that has been shaky most of the year.

Biggest Bust:
Jay Cutler

Bears Cutler Football

Michael Vick made his triumphant return to the NFL this season and has ten times as many splinters in his ass as touchdowns. While there is no doubt that Vick has been a bust, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid certainly hasn't given Vick much of an opportunity to play.

Conversely, Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler did have an opportunity to play and his performance has been putrid. Although he played well last night against Minnesota, Cutler has tossed more interceptions than anyone in the league. To make matters worse, the petulant Cutler has been significantly outperformed by the guy (Kyle Orton) he was traded for back in April. For the most part, it has been a nightmare season for Cutler, but at least he can now put the Biggest Bust trophy on his mantle. So he has that going for him...which is nice.

Coach of the Year
: Norv Turner

When the San Diego Chargers started the season at 2-3, the vast majority of fans not only wanted Turner to be fired but to be thrown off the Coronado Bridge as well. However, these thoughts are all but a distant memory right now as the Bolts moved to 12-3 after annihilating the Tennessee Titans Friday night. Sean Payton and Jim Caldwell were strongly considered for the Coach of the Year Award, but nobody deserves it more than Norval Eugene Turner. Congrats on winning this very prestigious award Norvie, but if you run 5'5" Darren Sproles up the middle on short yardage one more time we might be taking on a little drive over to Coronado. You've been warned.
