Should Evan Turner Be The First Pick In The NBA Draft?

Yes.

I chuckle every time I hear someone say that the NBA Draft Lottery is the John Wall Sweepstakes.  Is Wall a great basketball player?  Absolutely.  However, he isn't even the best player in the draft.  That honor clearly goes to Evan Turner.

Right now Turner is better...and it isn't even close. Just watch the video.  Turner is a man among boys.  He's a combination of LeBron James and Brandon Roy.

Turner won the Naismith Men's College Player of the Year award, but for some reason Wall continues to get most of the acclaim.  For the life of me, I just don't get it.

One prominent ESPN columnist was so enamored with Wall that earlier this year he proclaimed that the Utah Jazz would have to immediately trade Deron Williams if they won the lottery.  This is sheer lunacy.

Statistics never tell the whole story, but Turner was an absolute terror last season:  20.4 ppg., 9.2 rpg., 6.0 apg., .519FG, .364 3-pt

Conversely, Wall often struggled from the floor: 16.6 ppg, 6.5 apg, .461 FG, .325 3-pt

Both players should eventually become NBA stars.  However, Wall's ceiling is a poor man's Derrick Rose while Turner could prove to be as good as King James.

If my team gets the first pick in the draft I'd take Turner in a heartbeat...and wouldn't give it a second thought.

I totally agree with you. Passing on Turner would be like passing on Grant Hill.

In the post I said my man Evan was a cross between Roy and LeBron, but he's probably more like a cross between Roy and Grant Hill.  Yesterday I heard the Sixers might even pass on Turner.  Mark my words, they will rue the day...
