The NFL Lockout Is Almost Over & A Lot Of Players Will Be On The Move

NFL free agency could begin very soon and the action is likely to be fast and furious.  While most teams will initially concentrate on signing their own players, there are definitely going to be guys changing uniforms and earning fat paydays. Some of the astronomical contracts you’ll be hearing about will be deserved and others will be absolutely preposterous.

As soon as the lockout is officially over, look for the Philadelphia Eagles to trade backup quarterback Kevin Kolb to the Arizona Cardinals. Reportedly, Kolb and standout wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald have been working out together this summer and it appears to only be a formality that a trade is consummated once teams have the green light to wheel and deal.

As far as bloated contracts are concerned, I expect Chargers safety Eric Weddle to be near the top of the list. Rumors are rampant that teams will be lining up to throw money at the 5’9″ slow-footed safety (believe me, I’ve watched him miss dozens of tackles and trail plays for several years) and he’ll likely be laughing all the way to the bank.

No matter what happens once the lockout ends, professional football fans will certainly be clamoring for the Sunday NFL Ticket now that DIRECTV is offering it free of charge to new subscribers.

Although the Hall of Fame game between the Rams and Bears has been canceled, no other preseason games are likely to be missed. The NFL is clearly the top dog as far as sports are concerned in this country and a pesky little lockout isn't going to change anything.
